Professional Experience and Practice Areas

Shari Cordova joined RMC in 1998 and became a shareholder of the firm in 2002.

Ms. Cordova acts as general labor counsel to numerous local and national companies, regularly assisting them in addressing the full scope of employment law matters, including those arising under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and the New Mexico State Human Rights Act. She advises clients extensively in all areas of preventive practice, including hiring and firing considerations, compliance with labor and employment laws, and personnel policy development and implementation. Ms. Cordova has represented employers in all aspects of labor and employment litigation, and represents employers in audits, investigations and other proceedings before various administrative agencies including state and federal Departments of Labor, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the National Labor Relations Board, the New Mexico Bureau of Human Rights and the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions.

Ms. Cordova has extensive litigation experience that goes beyond her employment law practice.  She acts as trial counsel in general commercial litigation matters and personal injury defense, and she handles civil litigation appeals in state and federal courts.

Born and raised in the Midwest, Ms. Cordova grew up in rural Minnesota. She attended undergraduate school at the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks, where she obtained her B.A. in Business Administration, and received her law degree from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota. She lived and practiced in the St. Paul area for four years, focusing on general commercial litigation. In 1998, she left her Nordic roots for the more moderate climate and beautiful vistas of New Mexico. She currently resides in Albuquerque, with her husband and four children.
